We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. I am working on an original theme now though.
To answer your question though, when I make iPhone icons I have a mask and a few different types of gloss That insures that there is some consistency to them. There rest is really up to you.
